Hello There

I love March and I’m inspired by how much there is to learn and the adventures to be had during the wonderful summer I’m confidently expecting …

Good news is our lovely Sharron has come through her hip replacement operation successfully today and it should be just one night in hospital before she’s home.

Abi and I are managing.  Well … sort of, it’s only been half a day so far and it’s mostly been physio exercises in the sun with Hugo  – but we have also lined up a couple of cracking webinars.

Actually that was a bad pun re. the first webinar “The Truth about Equine Chiropractic” as it is NOT about cracking bones into shape (but you knew that didn’t you?).

You’ll learn about:

  • What happens during a chiropractic assessment
  • What the terms mobilisation and manipulation really mean
  • Why spinal mobility matters for performance, comfort and behaviour
  • The kinds of cases that may benefit
  • When chiropractic supports veterinary treatment
  • How it compares with other manual therapies

As always at Intelligent Horsemanship, this won’t be about quick fixes or dramatic claims. It’s about understanding your horse better and making thoughtful, informed decisions.

Can Dressage Be Saved?… is so on point right now with dressage in the news again (The Times of all places) and for all the wrong reasons. I’ve been privately having the discussion on ‘what’s to be done?’ with regards to comfort and welfare for sports horses with some world class experts.

Starting with the Intelligent Horsemanship Magazine, I was Zooming with Dr Sue Dyson, independent equine soundness expert, Dr James Cooling, Bit and Bridle expert and Lisa White, international dressage trainer as to what education needs to get out there to help horses, in this case, specifically in competition.

Could we persuade and educate judges to mark for comfort as well as accuracy?

Anyway, Sue, James and Lisa have agreed to ‘come out’ to bring their thoughts to the public to discuss how we can ALL do better by our horses.

This webinar is on a memorable date – April 1st, but it’s no joke, so don’t miss out on what promises to be a great meeting of minds to benefit horses worldwide.

Free to IH Members as ever and £10 to non-members and a chance to ask questions at the end.

And a thought …

I came across this quote from the James Clear emailout:

“Let’s say it doesn’t work out for some reason. What is something that is still worth trying because of what you will learn along the way?”

…and it resonated because of Hugo whose already a success story to my mind as we love him, but maybe he’s always going to be a little bit wonky (have you seen the video) but I have learned so much from having him here, and I’m so pleased to be able to pass the lessons I’ve learned from him on to you 😊

Is there annything you’re glad you did even though it didn’t work out to the orignial plan?

Lots of Love

Kelly x
