Hello ,

I hope you’re well.

I’m keeping it simple this week… we’ve got so much coming up over the next three months that I thought it deserved an email all of its own — so that’s exactly what I’m doing!

At Intelligent Horsemanship, we really appreciate all the support you give us — it genuinely makes a difference. So if you know anyone who might be interested in any of the events I’m about to mention, please do pass this email on.

You could share it with friends or family, pop it on your Facebook, or even print it out and pin it up in your tack room — anything helps!

I’d really appreciate it.

November News…

November started with a bang, as a new member and Online Horse Psychology student, Shendl MacGilp, won the £150 TopSpec Voucher in this month’s Members’ Prize Draw — well done!

If you’re not that familiar with TopSpec, you’ve got to check out the webinars we’ve had hosted by Anna Welch, Veterinary Nutrition Director and a key part of TopSpec’s multiple award-winning helpline.

Next up in November, we’ve got something special in store — our Ask the Experts: Q&A with Kelly Marks, Sandra Williams and the Intelligent Horsemanship Team. It’s your chance to get personal guidance straight from the horses mouth (I apologise) on all things horse behaviour, groundwork, loading, confidence and more.

Bring your questions (big or small!) and join us for an evening of calm, practical advice and real-life insights… And remember, ALL webinars are free to IH members (we email the link for you to join the live event on the day).

Dazzling December

December’s Prize Draw is another big one — and why not? It’s Christmas, after all! 🎄 Worth £195, we’re giving away a place on the January Online Horse Psychology Course to one of our lucky Members. Don’t forget to make sure you’re signed up!

And here’s a little bonus: if you purchase a Gift Membership for someone before the start of December, they’ll be automatically entered twice into the prize draw for a chance to win too. (Don’t worry — if they win, we won’t spoil the surprise until after they’ve received their Christmas gift!)

If you’re anywhere near South Queensferry, Edinburgh on Saturday 7th December, here’s a treat — IH Trainer Julia Duncan is hosting a friendly Intelligent Horsemanship Coffee Morning.

Julia’s putting together a relaxed morning with plenty of horse talk, practical horsemanship tips, and a little groundwork so you can see the methods in action. It’s a brilliant opportunity for our Scottish Members — especially those who haven’t been able to make it to an IH event before — to connect, learn, and share a coffee (or two!) with like-minded horse lovers.

Understand Your Horse's Heart This Christmas

If you’ve ever wondered what a heart murmur or irregular rhythm really means for your horse, this is one you won’t want to miss.

On Wednesday 17th December 2025 at 8:00 pm (UK), we’ll be joined by Professor Gunther van Loon of Ghent University, one of the world’s leading equine cardiologists.

He’ll discuss what heart murmurs and arrhythmias can indicate in horses, how they’re assessed, and what factors vets consider when it comes to performance, welfare, and safety.

It’s a valuable opportunity to hear directly from someone at the forefront of equine heart research and clinical practice.

Jane’s also back with us in January for another brilliant webinar — and this one’s all about manure!

I’m calling it “To Poo Pick or Not to Poo Pick… That Is the Question” (though “The Magic of Dung Beetles” would fit just as well!).
