About Nicki…

Nicki is based near Horncastle in Lincolnshire. She regularly travels within Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Humber and Yorkshire regions to see clients.

Nicki’s aim is to help owners and their horses communicate effectively to build a partnership that is safe, fun and that will help owners achieve their equestrian goals, whether that’s to have a well mannered, easy to be around horse or pony or as a happy hacker or as a competitive rider. She is passionate about helping people as well as their horses or ponies.

She recognises the challenges in owning and handling horses and the pressures we can sometimes feel, especially if you want to try a different approach from the more traditional horse methods.

Her first love has always been ponies and horses (well Donkeys first actually) having had the most fun during her own childhood whilst she was at Pony Club and now having children of her own has an interest in helping children with their ponies to provide them with the skills and knowledge to be able to handle their own ponies safely and effectively using an empathetic approach to both pony/horse and owner.

She has years of experience with horses and ponies, having spent most of her childhood, looking after her pony, mucking out, grooming or competing in Eventing, Dressage, Show jumping, and Tetrathlons, and more recently enjoying hacking or attending clinics and supporting her children with their own pony and horse journeys.

She helps owners and their horses overcome issues with leading, loading, hacking, napping, feet handling, catching, clipping and spooking by building confidence of both horse and owner. She also enjoys helping horses learn how to stand still to mount, starting horses and with preparing horses for and learning long lining and to teach owners how to long lining safely. She enjoys empowering owners with the practical skills, horse psychology and equine learning theory and support to be able to train their own horse. Helping owners to see the world from the horse’s perspective, aware that behaviour is the only way a horse can communicate to us.

Her awareness of the role pain can play in a horse’s behaviour is at the forefront of her mind when meeting a horse or pony for the first time and if appropriate will recommend referral to a Vet or appropriate body-worker as her intuition has been proven right time and time again.

Sharing her working week between IH work and as an Essential Somatics Movement Teacher, (The Somatics Coach), which is particularly beneficial for riders. She is forever expanding her knowledge of horses and humans alike. Her most recent obsession is deepening her understanding of the nervous system of both horse and human, bringing this knowledge to her horse behaviour work and Somatics teaching.
