Intelligent Horsemanship Trainer – Sarah Bough
About Sarah…
As my mum was a riding instructor, I had a great opportunity to be with horses from an early age. It usually meant I was given the difficult ponies and spent a lot of time on the floor. As I grew, I became an instructor myself and found the best part was watching people overcome their fears, succeed at difficult tasks and grow as a person. I never really appreciated the contribution from the horse until I watched a Monty Roberts demonstration in the UK. Suddenly, I realised the horse had a view and opinion, and I was determined to learn all I could. After five years of solid study with Intelligent Horsemanship, I can now help other horse owners learn the quiet language of equus.
My aim is to help horses find their way in our human world, to reduce anxiety and give them peace. A horse that is calm and happy will attract happy humans and will be less likely to be sold on. Owners want the best for their horses but miscommunication can cause a lot of stress on both sides.
Replacing misunderstanding with knowledge includes general handling, catching, good manners, long lining and acceptance training.
The support from Sandra Williams, who runs the IH Awards: What Are IH Awards? has been amazing! And the continued online IH courses Online Horse Psychology Course (Tuesday Evening for 8 Weeks) are essential training for any horse owner.
I work with current owners and their horses. Also using my own trained ponies I teach horse mad kids, special needs adults/children and anyone who is curious about horses and the peace they bring to our lives.
