About Your Host: Warren Schofield is originally from Lancashire, but came over to Ireland 26 years ago to pursue a career in horse surgery.  He joined University College Dublin as a resident where he undertook further studies whilst training to be a specialist horse surgeon. With over 20 years specialising in the veterinary care of horses – he is particularly interested in orthopaedics, the relationship of lameness problems to equitation performance problems, behaviour issues and the overall welfare of the horse. He is experienced in hospital medicine and surgery having published scientific papers on colic and gastro-intestinal problems, orthopaedic injuries, fertility surgery in mares and also in the foal from birth to adulthood.  His children are riding ponies and in particular they love pony games and they would have been competing at the Royal Windsor Horse Show and the Royal Bath and West Show on Irish Representative teams in 2020 if it hadn’t have been for that pesky pandemic.  Warren operates at various hospitals in Ireland, probably operating on about 10 to 20 horses per week
